Active with an expiration date in the future. Licensed Illinois lists only these.
Not current
- Not Renewed: the license or registration was not renewed by its expiration date.
- Inactive: according to the Illinois CPA Society, a licensed or registered CPA can ask IDFPR to place the license or registration on inactive status; the holder may then use the title “CPA (inactive)” but does not perform accountancy activities, and pays no renewal fees. It can be restored by applying to IDFPR (with CPE for licensed CPAs).
- Cancelled, Closed, Expired, Relinquish: the record is no longer in force, as labeled by IDFPR.
Discipline outcomes
Suspended, Revoked, Refuse To Renew and Probation reflect disciplinary action. Each listing and each Check a CPA result shows the actions IDFPR records. See discipline records.
